Blog: Sources say #Hokies forward Dorian Finney-Smith plans to transfer. http://t.co/luaicHpi
Forward from Portsmouth made ACC All-Freshman team
That sucks a fatty, but Im not surprised. I believe the coach from ODU who was hired here is a big reason he came to VT in the first place, correct? Now hes gone, so DFS is gone as well.
Well that sucks
Yep, I had hoped it wasn't going to happen, but my gut feeling was that with Richardson gone he would leave too.
I know it's just the way things work in CBB, but it just feels wrong that so many of these recruitments essentially amount to business deals. The players often don't appear to have any connection or commitment whatsoever to the school itself.
And so it begins....
Look, at the end of the day I think any of us who convinced ourselves that this was going to be a pain-free transition were somewhat divorced from reality. This is going to be a process, and it was going to be regardless of who was selected as coach. In fact, this particular situation would have almost certainly transpired even if Seth had been retained. John Richardson was really our only link to DFS, and with that connection gone, so was the kid.
I care about who's here, not who ain't.
We don't need to go back and forth here, but the writing is on the wall for this program over the next few years.
This whole ordeal with Seth should have been handled in a timely manner when players for YEARS were talking about how they hated him. I think JJ could succeed and I hope that he does, but this whole process is going to be in the "it is what it is" category.
I am with Smitty. I am pumped for who wants to be here and JJ will be a big spark of energy and family atmosphere. That is what VT is all about. I will enjoy watching basketball again no matter who is shooting or dribbling. Go Hokies!

@DavidTeelatDP Just to be clear: Sources say Finney-Smith's planned transfer unrelated to #Hokies coaching change. "This has been brewing for months."
Not buying that...
I believe it insofar is it's probably unrelated to Seth vs. JJ. It's very much related to Richardson leaving.
Probably starting lineup:
Green, Rankin, Eddie, Barskdale, Raines
Brown, M Wood and Van Z
If we win a game more than 4 games in the ACC I will be satisfied with our season.
Agreed. I'm trying not to get overly emotional about this (quite unsuccessfully), but at the end of the day when a kid essentially turns his back on a program and his teammates when they're going through a tough stretch, I'm not really inclined to give the kid a whole lot of thought or consideration.
Sorry people...not gonna give any best of luck here....when it looks a little tough....step up to the plate and be tough...don't tuck your tail between your legs and take your blocks and want to play somewhere else...I thought this kid was made out of some better stuff than that....don't let the door hit your backside on the way out.....so much for your teammates.....
