I wish we would have offered him just based on the pure fact he would have us in the lead for: Brown, Kamara, Nnadi, and maybe Quin. Uva did a very smart thing by offering him knowing the kind of pull he has and if he turns out to be good on the field that is just a plus.
I am under the impression we did not want to rock the boat with Bucky by offering Corwin although Corwin obviously wanted to come to Tech before not receiving an offer. In an article from Rivals before finding out Tech wasn't going to offer his dad said among other things:
"We really, really like Virginia Tech,"
"I know Corwin loves Virginia Tech. He grew up a Tech fan"
"I can say that Tech is really moving in the forefront."
It seems like it would have been a pretty smart move to offer Corwin and let him recruit these 2014 studs while also trying to hold onto Bucky last class. Seems like our coaches may have not realized the amount of pull him and his dad have and hopefully it does not haunt us in the future. It is frustrating to think about and I wish all these other recruits would realize we were Corwin's top choice and he wanted to come here before not receiving an offer.
There is nothing that will keep a program moving forward more than have a franchise QB.. We have 1 in either Bucky or Carlis.
I would love for CZY to weigh in on this.
I don't think anyone could have projected Cutler growing into the position like he did his Sr year. I am sure we had Parker rated slightly ahead of him thus he got the offer.
Knowing what we know on how Cutler did his senior year would we have Parker and him neck and neck and gone with the state kid?
I think that we would definitely have gotten a boost with both Nnadi and Kamara. I think Brown is still likely to do his own thing regardless.
Did you hear Hoo got arrested? Thomas Jefferson would be proud!
Well Parker came in early and Cutler ain't getting in UVA(or anywhere else) without prepping so.....
great, great point...seriously!! +1
With Parker enrolled early and Cutler prepping, had Beamer known that and went for Cutler instead of Parker, I would expect there would have been many comments on here that Beamer has lost it and doesn't care about winning a NC. OMHO.
UVA likes to play that game, they did it with the Norfolk Christian kids. Good for them, let them play that game. It shows that we're on a different level when you don't have the ships to throw away on kids that aren't going to contribute to the program just so that you have a chance to land another kid. UVA has improved the talent in their program but not the depth and they won't as long as they play the games they are right now. Let them give free rides to the Will Wahees of the world.
that and UVA still sucks on the field, which is a result of their coaches (rather than the guys who go to class, practice, suit of for games, etc). They got on a little run at the end of the 2011 season, but otherwise it's been a disaster for them on the field.
why the recruits whom the Cutler's have so much influence over can't see that is beyond me.
Because winning and losing isn't everything for some kids. The opportunity to play together or playing time is far more important to some kids than others. Kids are all motivated by different things. Plus, London is a hell of a liar, I mean Salesman.
