I agree that defense has been bad (JJ's stubbornness to not abandon doubling in the post is mind boggling), but the offense has completely lost its identity the past few games. Eddie and Brown struggling is a huge part of that. This is not a bad team to lose to. I would have been shocked to win, but the way we are losing is certainly discouraging.
And to respond to moshermw- Eddie has improved every aspect of his game immensely this season. Every player go through slumps and we need to get behind our own because there's a lot of season left.
Van Zegeren is playing his butt off.
Joey and Green are the only 2 that decided to show up.

No looking so good.. 70-39
Resolve to perform what you ought; perform without fail what you resolve. You may be whatever you resolve to be - Stonewall Jackson
21 free throws to 9. lol
We are going to lose by 40. Who saw this type of beatdown coming?
Eddie has improved every aspect of his game immensely this season....
While playing against nobody.
This is a W the 'computers' say we could get with a break here or there.
Because of lack of D and coaching and Whatever the Fvck, VT is down 35.
This is not improvement - it is REGRESSION and even the VT team of last year had more heart than to go down by 40 to ANYONE.
I repeat - I think the JJ honeymoon is totally over - Seth at least had the team have grit.
This is beyond sickening - and it's coaching.
15 mins and 12 f'n points in the second half. 12
Give them all the Beamer missed bowl curfew treatment....bus home from Vegas......silver lining I suppose is that Green kept his scoring average, haha
For those of you around for the Frankie Allen days...this feels familiar....the announcers are basically mocking coach's defensive approach, and his half court offense (send Green off ball screen).
It's the GPA boosters time to shine!
Just an all-around laughable game. Brown, Raines, and Eddie have to show up to the games. Brown is completely out of it right now.
Objectively, now that the anger has somewhat subsided, that stat of the game:
R. Brown: 0-8, 0-3 (3) 0-2 FT. Dude is ofer last two games.
That and I really don't think JJ knows how to play D against a team with talent and an idea on O. Reminds me of when I was a soccer coach for 9 year olds and I always played a game - boys against parents. Even un-athletic parents knew that if you just spread it out and passed when double teamed one could score at ease.
Duke will beat us by 50.
Was real fun while it lasted.
Biggest hoop heartbreak since that no talent a-clown Hansbrough BS shot.
Hows his NBA career ?
Yes I'm bitter and mean right now - thanks for letting me vent.
4 of the 7 scholarship guys had more fouls than points. That is a pretty rough night on both ends of the court!
this is not football. its a LONG season. slumps happen. bad losses happen. and we are going to find out how good JJ is by seeing how his team responds to adversity. i am not sold yet either, as we have some very bad defensive tendencies that haven't improved at all over the course of the season. but i am not ready to jump off this ship 12 games into his career as a head coach. in case you didn't notice, there were two walk ons on the court for long periods of time tonight (and almost every game this year). this situation is very very far from ideal.
we won some games early this season bc like most teams we play much better at home. and i would hardly call iowa and oklahoma state nobodies. i hope most fans aren't as close to the edge as you and will come out to support the team when they play in cassell again.
and if you really want seth back and actually think eddie has regressed then i have no clue why i'm wasting my time responding here.
This is what you get when you hire a coach out of desperation and its his first head coaching job... This is completely predictable to me. JJ just has no idea how to stop somebody that knows what they are doing. Our only shot of scoring points seems to be on creating a fast pace yet we have stopped pushing the ball regularly.
We can no longer shoot. Not even free throws.
I watched last night and it pretty much seemed like a Greenberg game on offense. One player that can score, and a bunch of shots out of rhythm.
In order for us to be successful, at least four of our five starters need to show up. Robert Brown has been missing since the WVU loss.....he's 4-30 from the field since that game. Over the same 4 game stretch, Eddie is 17-40 from the field and Raines has averaged 4.5 ppg and 5 rpg......Raines has almost as many fouls as he has points over the last 4 games (13 PF and 18 pts). Aside from Green, Joey vZ has been a bright spot giving us some good minutes and production. But again, until guys like Brown (37% from the field and 61% from the FT line) step up, this team will continue to struggle. And while I do agree JJ needs to tighten up on the defensive side of the ball, JJ can't make shots for them.
No depth and some are not as talented as we want them to be. I have some issues with defense we are playing to but will look down the road when hopefully JJ system is totally in. People next year could be awful just because our STAR will be gone. Called recruiting at a higher level. Can JJ do that?
The shooting slumps happen, guys get hurt, but it is the defense in general that is extremely alarming and does not bode well for our season, and maybe our future.
Somehow this will get blamed on Seth as well. Lol
THE ONLY THING I'M ADDICTED TO IS WINNING--CHARLIE SHEEN
This isn't the same team we saw against Iowa and Ok St. Hopefully JJ mixes up Ds and runs more sets on O. The failure to rotate when trapping is killing us.
Odds are we play very poorly when the team minus Green shoots less than 25% which happened last night.
Hopefully JJ gets the team to improve but Col St is probably a tournament team and would finish 4th in the ACC IMO. They are a much better team than UNC or Miami from what I have seen on TV.
