Jim Harbaugh is my favorite football coach by far. I wish Beamer would get the staff to visit him to see how he prepares for games and during the offseason. Whether it was at Stanford against college coaches or in San Fran against NFL veteran coaches his teams looks so prepared, every player knows exactly what they're supposed to do, every single player executes their responsibility to perfection, and the team as a whole just looks like it's on another level scheme wise. I can only imagine what he would do if he took over VT tomorrow, our OLine issues would no longer be issues.
I don't think our coaches are bad coaches, I just don't think they know how to balance planning a gameplan with getting the team ready to execute on every play. I've heard for years that our OLine scheme is very complex and takes a few years to learn, but it just seems that even players that have been in the system for years still dont know it well enough to execute it on a regular basis. I've agreed for years that if we just executed plays properly and regularly, our offense could be just as good as our defense.
Anybody in the know know if Beamer & Co. have any plans to go out there and talk to Harbaugh?
Newsome needs to go visit the OL coaches of San Fran and Baltimore...
No! Newsome needs to go home and NEVER come back.
I agree Jordan.... And maybe a few others need to follow.
Harbaugh is an over-hyped coach. His DC makes him look good.
Don't be a lemming.
Your other points on game planning and execution are valid, don't let them get lost with your Harbaugh worship.
Harbaugh being over-hyped bc of his DC sounds extremely familiar....
Not sure if serious?
That's just simply not true.
You don't turn Stanford into a national power in 4 years time if you can't coach. I don't care who his quarterback was for part of that, look at Stanford now with all of his players not named Andrew Luck. Stanford is 5-1 against USC since he got there??? Seriously??
You don't turn an NFL team that had a top 10 pick the year before you got there into a 13-3, NFC Championship game team if you can't coach.
Harbaugh is one of the best in the game at any level. Period.
Had to be joking?
Our last 5 games:
5. Clemson (got abused by a team that was horrible at the end of the year, O was horrible)
4. Michigan (lost to a clearly inferior team, D was lights out, O horrible)
3. GT (D played great, O not so great but pulled out a win, 2 plays called that were not past the LOS on the final drive made the 4th down play nessecary, lets also not forget that had we lost SportCenter would have been calling Frank out for not calling a TO when GT had the ball, horrible clock management)
2. Austin Peay (flat on both sides but on 5 days rest? GT still crushed their opponent, I'll give a pass)
1. Pitt (lost to Pitt that lost to D1AA and got crushed by Cinci, we just flat didn't show up and had no identity on O....again)
I respectfully disagree and I was serious as I had a lengthier debate with the OP over Facebook to state my case. I'm not going to bring that on here because...well...it would be annoying.
I think Harbaugh is a product of his DC and Andrew Luck.
I think we'll see how "good" of a coach Harbaugh is next year when Fangio gets a HC job.
I think he's a whiney little B and smug SOB at that.
They're off to a very good start, but the NFC West is very much improved this year. It won't be the cake walk it was last year and the Jeff Fisher's and Pete Carroll's of the world are going to be waiting on them / circling their games with SF this year.
I can't get over how everyone thinks he's the next Vince Lombardi...it's a complete crock of BS IMO.
Well Mr Harbaugh has the NINERS very close so YES he is great coach. Doesn't back down. Wil not allow softness.
CJH is not a good coach but Pete Carroll is?
Harbaugh took Stanford to the Mountain Top and took a SF from the cellar to the NFCCG in one year. I respectfully disagree....and His DC didn't exactly slow NO down in the play-offs, that was a shoot out. They were a middle of the road D team last year, the DC ahd nothing to do with them cramming the ball down the out teams throats....he knows how to make a game plan and get his guys to live by it
I wholeheartedly disagree.
I think one of the biggest parts of being a head coach at any level is picking the right assistants and being the CEO so to speak of the ball club. This is one of the things that the best coaches at every level are very good at. Beamer has never been good at that, and its whats holding him back iyam.
Fangio only became a great defensive coach under...... Harbaugh. Unless you call his defenses for the Houston Texans 7 years ago good, lol.
Just like a QB or any one player, coaches get too much or too little credit. A head man needs to be a motivator of men, needs to push the right buttons, needs to have the right players and coaches in place. I don't know much about coaching, so I can't judge his coaching abilities, so if you are debating that then it makes sense. However, you speak of Andrew Luck and Fangio as being his only reasons? He came in with a staff and transformed the 49ers into a legit team, practically over night.
I remember Shabutie on tos breaking down Stanford days BEFORE our Orange Bowl, saying how mentally strong they were when he spoke with some of the players in the hotel, etc. Vague story, I know, but Harbaugh seems to be an @$$hole but his players play for him, and his results at Stanford and the 49ers is absurd.

Todd Washington is waiting in the wings.
Never said Pete Carroll was a great coach or compared him to Harbaugh...just said the public sentiment on him "as the next Vince Lombardi" might be different 2 years from now with a resurgent division and the loss of his DC.
Time will tell and good debate for sure.
"middle of the road" D team?
They were the top ranked defense in the NFL?
Can't stand either Harb's but they are excellent Head Coaches. Jimmy's turn-around of the 49'ers was simply amazing.
FWIW......Harbaugh is 5-1 vs. Carroll as head coaches of Stanford/SC and SanFran/Seattle. Pretty sure he is not worried about Pete Carroll.
I'm not sure visits really work.

We tend to go visit where we already have a friend or connection with a member of another staff so you get to full load of info exchange. The problem is we need to focus on what we do best and stick with it so the level of execution is higher for every snap. We only have so much time in the College game to practice.
