Perfect for that O. Does he stay?
Hopefully that would be sick.
I'd think so. Problem is that he is injury prone, and as much as Kelly runs the QB it will expose him. They will need to draft a mobile backup.
I would pick up Dennis Dixon to be the back up.
Oregon fans.....Please proceed to meltdown stage..
You know this has to be a huge kick in the nuts to Oregon fans. We thought our roller coaster was bad.
And just like that they lose 2 of their recruits. Both rated a 94 and Top 150. Ouch.
Did you hear Hoo got arrested? Thomas Jefferson would be proud!
Wonder how bad it could get at Oregon with the NCAA....
Also, is he taking his whole staff with him?
their OC will be Head Coach
Only reason MV1 is injury-prone is because that idiot Eagle oline were traffic cones and he was driven head-first into the turf every time he tried to stay in the pocket. He is NOT a pocket QB and never has been.
Exactly....if they are smart they don't change a thing. Anyone thinking Oregon is going to lose a beat is sadly mistaken. Oregon = Nike U.
Yea look at Stanford. Harbaugh left, Shaw takes over and leads them to a Rose Bowl victory. That said, Kelly was the face of that school so losing him will hurt moreso in recruiting than anything until they prove they can win without him.
Probably true but I believe the coach who takes over a first rate team talent wise needs to prove himself over a longer period of time. Remember when Butch left miami with a ton of talent and his replacement comes in and wins the big one. Now coaching in the subminors. I dont care for Shaw but he will probably be able to sustain their status.
Eagles fan here. Personally I'm not sold on Kelly. Should I be?
As brilliant as Harbaugh and Kelly are, their schools were both pretty irrelevant before them. Since neither one made particularly long runs, both schools really need to hit another home run to keep this momentum going. It looks like Stanford has at the moment. Oregon? We'll see.
THe system works with the right personnel...and if You are smart with it. Kelly will have to tinker and experiment. 53 man roster is going to surprise him. He can't do a lot of things he did in college for practices...etc. So he is going to have to adapt as well. Also...you might as well play with 2 qb's in practice and in games. The Qb's will get dinged up and hurt eventually. I'm sure he's itching to get this started.
I'm a Skins fan and didn't want him near the NFC East, thought he may go to Cleveland. The guy is a bright mind, guys like him and Harbaugh can adapt and scheme. I wouldn't expect to see the exact same offense as Oregon honestly, and not that I know anything about x's and o's. You saw a lot of run/pass option types of schemes in the NFL this year, so if you want to use a mobile QB then I'd imagine a guy like Kelly would be the answer.
I know a lot of trends fade out in the NFL, but it's sort of common sense if you think about it. If you have a guy that can throw a good football and can run, then you have more options.
They had already named the OC the Head Coach before the Fiesta Bowl if Kelly left. I don't think Oregon will skip a beat. I like Chip Kelly, but I think the OC (now HC) will do just fine! He has plenty of talent (speed) on that team for the next 2-3 years to keep the athletes coming in.
True....I just heard Herbie give his take and he believes Oregon will need to hire a new HC who is able to keep the Chip (no pun intended) on the players back like Kelly, he does not think the OC is the long term answer.
PS: Back to the OP, it would be awesome to see Vick run his offense. I don't watch much NFL anymore, just find it no where near as exciting as college ball. It also lacks the unpredictable outcomes and big plays like college ball.
