I'd like to see Weaver retire and VT to make a run at the Arkansas AD. He used to work at VT, so there is a strong connection. He made a bad move hiring Smith as an interim HC so maybe he would be amenable to a move. He has connections in the SEC that could prove valuable and experience in a big time AD with big time football.
To me we should open the wallets and get this guy. Frank will wine and dine the big money donors after retirement, but that won't be for several years IMO. His recent hires will really pay off. I'm making an early predictions that Loeffler gets the O turned around, and is promoted as HC in 4 years. He has the right mindset for VT coming up in the Carr/Shembeckler tree.
I see what you did there.
Thank you. Thought is was pretty damn funny, and nobody even noticed.
One would think Foster would be the perfect candidate to fill the position of head coach while Shane is working on his resume as a coordinator. If Beamer has another 3 seasons, Foster would probably have an additional 5 or 6, putting Shane in his mid-40s (?) and ready to take over the job for another 15-20 seasons (if he performed well). I don't necessarily "favor" this approach, but I think from the perspective of the Beamers, Foster is the perfect candidate. With Beamer, Foster, Beamer, you'd have about 50 years of relative coaching continuity, which would be nearly unprecedented.
Your just to slick for most of us. You sly devil you
Even with the hire of Smith, it was bad but given the circumstances, he was put in a tight spot. What was his position at VT?
