Did any of you that watched the game notice after Brown hit the 3 and WVA brought to ball down court, guard went in for layup and missed and went off us. Then when WVU was bringing the ball in bounds their player bringing the ball in took 2 steps to the left before throwing the ball in, he cannot move, should have been our ball.
A lot of should have beens but at the end of the day the Hokies lost this game because of piss poor rebounding and defense.
I'm excited for this team. The bench is practically freshman and this team is really young and will only get better.
Seems like JJ is going to go after more height in his recruiting classes so I expect the rebounding woes to be negated over the next few years. We just don't have any natural rebounders on this team either, which is hurting probably moreso than our lack of a true center.
But, I agree. Despite the loss I think we're going to make some noise this season. WVU is tough to beat at home and we were a possession, couple free throws, or one more made basket away from beating them. Nobody goes undefeated in basketball so time to move onto the next. VT should be 9-1 before they head out to Vegas so plenty to still be excited about.
Love listening to Coach Knight and he was correct..Green could have drove in and got fouled...or did a little floater off the backboard or something...i think he'll learn from this and be better for it
What I thought was a great sign was the way the team fought back from the big first half deficit and again after WVU when on that run towards the end of the game. Team kept fighting. I think we need to execute the 1/2 court offense with more passing, movement, and patience....some bad, quick 3 point attempts while highly guarded. But overall, a great effort and fun game to watch. Kids are still having fun and working hard. Cannot ask for more. Much more entertaining than watching our O football team.
I for one, can't stand listening to Bobby Knight. He seems out of touch with reality at times. He was referring to an incorrect amount of time remaining at one point. But whatever. Proud of this team. We win that game in a tough environment (while our 2nd leading scorer played for like 15 minutes the whole game) if the slow, unathletic looking white dude whose shot looks like my Dad's doesn't career it and start draining 3's. The future is bright. Just hope we can find a PG for next year. Rankin is not the answer I'm afraid.
Agree with you on the future being bright Hubcap...and I think JVZ is gonna be a very good player by the time he leaves here..just wish we had Green for one more year...but Brown has REALLY stepped it up this year. C Raines needs to work on those free throws because he may have to win a game at Duke or UNC with FTs
No. The clock was running out. Had to pull the trigger. If he drove, he'd have run out of time.
Also just so you know, I don't remember how much he moved, but you can actually move three feet in either direction. The refs weren't the best. Mainly in Eddie's fourth foul on the charge, but the inbound play was fine in my opinion
I did not know that, I thought you had to stay stationary except in bounds after made basket, it was within 3 feet I think my mistake, thanks for the clarification.
Agree with you, Green got a great look by pulling up. If he had driven, yes, maybe he would've been fouled, but if not he would have had to take a running one hander.
