Anyone else getting the feeling that we are all going to be tremendously disapointed by the time this is finally over? Everytime someone comes on here and posts info or someone tweets something that things are moving along, someone in the know ultimately chimes in saying things are hung up or something needs to happen to get things moving? Meanwhile, the one offensive coach that was worth a damn leaves because it appeared he was left in limbo not knowing if the new supposed OC was going to keep him or not and as of right now 2 of the biggest problems with our offense, Newsome and Ocain are technically still here? Seriously, VT isn't the only school thats ever had to make changes, others schools and NFL teams have coaches leave all the time and seemingly have replacements ready in half the time that its taking VT. Everyday this takes is one less day that new coaches have developing continuity, getting a new playbook to the players to start learning, and not to mention getting on the recruiting trail developing relationships with recruits repping VT.
I agree, last season after giving up 70 to WVa, Clemson had Veneables pretty quick. Seems like things are rolling pretty good down there, I would take that season and be happy. I hope these changes are happening quickly behind the scenes. I think Bama had changes on the O side of the ball and things seemed to have transitioned well. Change needs to take place at VT, this team was less than the sum of their parts this past year, we need new ideas on the O side of the ball.
Respectfully, I think you are being paranoid.
Venables was our in OK when Stoops bro came back after getting canned in AZ.
The guys we are looking at are employed and we also have the state timing issues.
No, not at all.
Given the info that is out there and what folks like CZY and TCB have posted, I think you have to dig for reasons to anticipate being disappointed (unless you would be tremendously disappointed with a Pep Hamilton-like hire).
We've been told that Pep Hamilton may very well be the guy, but if he isn't there are several other top candidates interested. We've been reminded that VT has to follow the state hiring rules (recall how long it took to get JJ's assistants named?) and to be patient. We've been told that Frank met with select O staff yesterday. We've been told that there are at least three coaching changes coming and that the new OC (who isn't here yet) will pick his staff. And we've been told that our top candidate, unlike the UVA hires (and many NFL hires), are not recently unemployed.
Oh, and VT is not in session until Jan 22 and the top recruiters are not leaving

yes I've been feeling that way for days now
And to add fuel to my worry, Malarkey was just let go by the Jags and the GM is said to be looking at Roman and Nolan as replacements. If Roman is the guy, how long do you suspect Harbough would wait before placing a call to Pep?
