Is it available online anywhere?
I'm pretty sure it's on ESPN3.
On this list for WatchESPN (used to be called ESPN3).
Get full access on your computer, mobile devices and Xbox Live to all live sports events, replays and programs on the ESPN networks with WatchESPN.
Some sports bars have ESPN 3 as well. Transmission quality can be sketchy though.
You can try VIPBOX. It works for me overseas. I can't promise you'll be able to access it stateside though.
"Worthless" is a strong word. Its not worthless to me!
As Count said, Hokie bars will often play the game through the ESPN3 feed. Where theres a will, theres a way!
Well you better make friends with anyone who uses one of the providers in this link...
Starbucks + laptop perhaps?
ESPN3 is much better thru the XBOX if you have one
I basically use my XBOX as a replacement for the cable DVR... Works better and more features.
I have freaking Cox - anyone interested in shooting me a login for WatchESPN? Not sure if it would even work. I guess I could always tether with the laptop and use ESPN3.
It's so ridiculous that I get ESPN3 with Cox but I don't get WatchESPN.
Buy an XBox and you can get all the ESPN 3 content for VT for both football and basketball. You also get all the other media options the XBox has.
Only if your ISP supports ESPN3
I don't think so... unfortunately.
agree... I've got a PC serving up media and run XBOX with WMC as my cable/tv box (via a HDHomerun) works perfectly. Would be nice if it ran something like PLEX without having to hack it as most of the options for local media on the machine are not nearly as nice.
This was just introduced about a week ago and is a little confusing. ESPN3 is still available, and is sort of their online only channel available within the WatchESPN format. Anyone who could watch espn3 previously still can, but their WatchESPN format of viewing espn, espn2, and espnu online or through their app is only available to customers of about 5 providers (comcast, verizon, etc.).
Basically, anyone can go to to watchespn.com or download the WatchESPN app, but if your cable service provider doesn't support it, then you will only be able to watch the games that say "ESPN3" next to them. The game this weekend is an ESPN3 game, so if you could see those last year then you will be fine. If your goal is to watch your game this year, there will be a way to do it, but in previous years you would have the ESPN networks add various games/simulcasts online for streaming on the ESPN3 network. We haven't come across it yet, but I believe when a game was previously blacked out you could watch it at ESPN3, you can't do that any more unless you get WatchESPN.
Still incorrect. Your ISP must still support ESPN3 to even be able to watch that. Attached is a list of supported ISPs for ESPN3 (might be oudated). WatchESPN also requires a supported provider. Check their site for more information.
You said it more eloquently, but that is the list for what I meant for ESPN3 people who previously got it, but I was too lazy to google it.
Check yourself and type in espn3.com or watchespn.com, they both direct to the same page. This is the direction ESPN is going in for online media.
If you are on the list that you provided, then you can see programming titled ESPN3. However, if you subscribe to 1 of the 5 comcast, verizon, brighthouse, cox, (I could be off on 1 or 2 but only about 5 ISP's provide WatchESPN right now), then you are able to watch all programming (espn, espn2, espnu, espn3).
If any of you can't get espn3, then hit up your buddies because all you need is their user name and password.
under the heading where it has the listing for tomorrows game, it says (EXCLUSIVE) under it. what does that mean? and before a wise guy says anything, i know what the definition of the word means. i am just making sure to see where the exclusivity falls.
The Hokies reclaimed the Commonwealth Cup on Nov. 27, 2004. Kendall Fuller was 8 years old.
I did a search on Directv and it is saying that the game is on channel 642, but I don't know if it will be blacked out or not. It also says that it will be replayed on the same channel on Friday, 9/14 at 11am. I just hope that it isn't blacked out.
I tried the watchespn app and of course my ISP was not listed. However I can watch it on the xbox. I noticed from the list earlier in the thread that there are several more isps listed for espn3.
Yes this does work good overseas but again don't know about back home.
