This kills all of our opponents. It is the Saban way, just an interesting tid bit in regards to three and outs.
As a Head Coach, Nick Saban's defenses get a 3 and out or a turnover 51.44% of the time on defense.
During the 2011 season, Saban's defense got a 3 and out or a turnover on 63.70% of the time.
During the 2012 season, Saban's defense got a 3 and out or a turnover on 55.49% of the time.
Guys, watch the language and please edit you last comment threepeat, and edit your quote Time2roll. We glad to have you here, but we got lots of folks that post here including parents of players and recruits, and that kind of language will not be tolerated.
Thanks for your cooperation
I thought they burned all the books in Bama
Did you hear Hoo got arrested? Thomas Jefferson would be proud!
WO WO WO you can't talk to us like that
You sir, are an idiot.
Literally every fan, sans 1 or 2, knows you will win. Relax dongle berry.
Defense wins ships. Bama has the best defense. Makes sense
I laughed. Plus 1 Dex.
Cant blame you Hokies for having hope. That is really all you can do. Any rational football fan knows that VT is significantly over matched on paper. All the talk about intangibles like "determination" and "disrespect" are fun to talk about leading up to a big game, but is mostly just a bunch of baloney. Once the blocks start flying, the game almost always comes down to what really matters in football, which is size, strength, speed, and technique, with one additional crucial element that can sometimes carry even the most over matched team to victory....luck. The Hokes will need to play flawlessly, and have Alabama make alot of uncharacteristic mistakes. Take that and sprinkle some luck on top, and you can possibly pull it off. Likely?....Hell No, not with a Nick Saban coached team, but if you do somehow pull it off, take comfort in knowing that the sweetness of your victory will be far exceeded by the depths of our despair. It's title or bust for Bama these days, and having that dashed to open the season would be painful beyond words.

A very fair and accurate comment. Welcome to VTScoop.
Luckily for us our offense has already prepared us for worse 3 and out percentages than these.
Anybody seen threepeat? Made two comments but doesn't appear he will be threepeating afterall
The problem with your logic of bama starting 3 new OL and a few on the DL is that the new people are just as good as the ones they are replacing, and in some cases they will be better, which is hard to believe. Bama has actually added to their offensive fire power over last year and are deeper. On the defense side of the ball they will be better than last year with one minor concer which is corner back, but i believe they will prove to be as good as last year. I really like VT and my brother loved them and i root for them except when playing Bama. I am not sure if the point spread will hold but i don't see VT scoring more than 10 on bama and i think bama will be able to score as many as they want but saban does not like to run up the score so i expect he will just run the ball after getting up by three TD's.
You should know by now that mulligans are a bama tradition. He'll be back somehow.
Running is what will win you guys the game. Cooper is silly good and AJ is decent but I don't expect you guys to throw for much if Exum can actually play. It's the running that worries me.
While that is often true with every subsequent Nick Saban coached team, I'd be surprised if I ever saw an OL unit that good again in my lifetime. I mean damn, lets recap a bit here. Barrett Jones, the 2 time All-American Outland, Rimington, Campbell trophy winner, one of the most highly decorated players in CFB history, might ultimately have the lowest draft position from that unit when it's all said and done, assuming Anthony Steen gets drafted higher, which many think he will. That group will have had 3 1st round selections, and 2 more in the 2-4th rounds. It would almost be selfish to think we could top that again.
Dont pay attention to the Bama trolls. Fact is we all know the teams are unevenly matched and paper games are alway won on paper. BBBUUUUUTTTTT the games arent played on paper. They are played on grass or fake lucious soft synthetic grass and you never know what will happen when you toe the line and look at another man in the eyes that wants to hit you back. Bama should win and we all know that but lets have some beers and hope for a good game.
Not hard to believe at all. We realize if you removed the entire OL and DL for Bama, they would be replaced with top quality players and Bama would still be a respectable team.
If our offense cannot move the ball reasonably well and stay out on the field a bit, our defense will be worn down and by mid 3rd or the 4th quarter, they are going to seriously struggle. That being said, I'm not sure what about VT's defense leads you to believe Bama will be able to score at will on the Hokies.
I think AJ has earned the right to be called more than decent.
He deleted his prior comment, so he remains eligible for the threepeat of posting here.
I'm with that. If we got to take a whooping, so be it. But I'd rather open with you guys than some creampuff, like UVA or something.
No disrespect to VT in particular, but every time Bama has ventured OOC to face a supposed vaunted defense (Texas '09, Michigan St '10, Penn State '11, Notre Dame '12) we have carved them up pretty good, particularly on the ground, often times in a rather lopsided fashion. You'll have to excuse some of us if we take a skeptical wait and see approach when we hear about a great defense outside the SEC.
UVA going to be decent this year?
No. They will suck. There is much debate as to their level of suckage, so that remains to be seen.
Sounds like they might suck?
