I respect your opinion..but you are gonna be in for a LONG game. Alabama doesn't replace, they reload. Every year there is supposed to be a drop-off and there isn't. After the 2011 NC season we lost Mark Barron, Courtney Upshaw, Dont'a Hightower, and Dre Kirkpatrick on defense, all to the 1st round in the draft..and our defense was statistically better in 2012. We lost Trent Richardson at RB, broke in a brand new Center who had never played the position, lost 2 starting WRs and a TE, and our offense put up the best numbers in school history in 2012.
Bama reloads and will cover the spread.
Reloads? Yes now adays. Not pre-saban. You speak as if it has always been that way. Yes you may have had best season statistically on offense, but the schedule for bama this past year was generous to say the least. Im not guaranteeing a Hokie victory, but to say it will be more than a 3 td game is a bit of a stretch
I agree with this. 3 and outs killed us in 09. The D played well for a while but eventually being on the field the whole game took its toll. For us to even have a shot, we need to sustain drives and allow the D to rest.
What does Pre-Saban have to do with anything?
And VT fans shouldn't talk about generous schedules. Oh yeah, that Austin Peay, Pittsburgh, Bowling Green, and Cincinatti stretch last year was just brutal.
Then you have Duke? Miami?? Boston College??? Yeah..tough stuff right there..
Bama will more than cover the spread.
Gatorade laced with unicorn urine is the real secret.
Bama ran 79 plays to our 51. VT had the ball 5 minutes in the 3rd quarter, and 5 minutes in the 4th quarter. We ran 4 series in 5 minutes in the 4th. No defense can survive that.
Surely you jest.
Damn I gotta try that.
Its the shiz
+1 for the humor

Obviously he wasn't.
I think this game could be just as close as the last one. If it is, anything can happen.
The whole country was discounting VT the last time we played, and we were leading into the 4th. Should be a good game between two great programs.
How is it a stretch? Bama has destroyed way higher ranked OOC opponents in the last few years than what VT is gonna be. I fully expect another ND or Michigan type game. This looks on paper like it could be Saban's best team yet. Unless Va Tech improves leaps and bounds from last year it is going to get bad.
You're just not yourself
I don't remember it that way at all. Seems like it was a top ten matchup. This year Bama will be #1 and Va Tech will be unranked. That is why VT is being discounted this time.
Didn't I read VT was going to back out of the game if LT entered the draft? That says something about what the VT coaches think of the matchup.
That rumor was debunked
Did you hear Hoo got arrested? Thomas Jefferson would be proud!
Our offense returns a QB who has already won 2 national titles as a starter. His TD/INT ratio last year was 30/3. He is 25-2 as a starter. At RB, Yeldon returns and had over 1,000 yards as a true freshman. Behind him we have the deepest and most talented stable of RB's in the country with 6 guys (Drake, Henry, Hart, Tenpenny, Kamara, Jones) who were national top 100 players. That doesn't include the 6'2 245 wrecking ball that is Jalston Fowler. At WR, we return Amari Cooper who had 1,000 yards receiving as a true freshman and had 5 TD's in his final 3 games. He had over 100 yards receiving in each game and didn't turn into the stud he is now until mid-way through the season...now he's a legitimate All-American talent. We also return every other WR on the roster. Norwood, Bell, White, Jones, Black comes back from injury and was on pace to play a lot last year before getting hurt. At TE, we lost a great player in Michael Williams but bring in a 5* pass catching threat in OJ Howard. We lose 3 great OL but return 2 who will be 1st team All-SEC/All-American type guys and our 3 new guys have been in the program a while and were obviously big time recruits.
All this to say...if our offense doesn't scare you then I'm not sure which one would. I believe this will be the best offense I've seen Bama have as long as the OL is at least good, not great. We've never had this many weapons with such an experienced, accomplished QB. VT's defense is always tough and I don't expect this year to be any different. However, Notre Dame's defense was supposed to be elite when we played them and we put up 28 in the first half, 14 more in the 2nd while simply running clock.
Our defense lost 4 players taken in the first 35 picks in the 2012 draft and still finished #1 in total, run, and scoring defense. It will easily be another top 3-5 defense this season, it has been every year since 2008 and with us returning several starters and with the amount of talent and depth we have, that isn't going to change.
I respect VT's program a lot but they simply don't have the horses to hang with Alabama right now. Last year was a pretty poor showing and I don't see a lot of reasons why they should be a lot better this year. I see this game going a lot like the Michigan game to start the season last year or even the Notre Dame game. Tough defenses but not many weapons on offense and erratic, inconsistent QB's. Those games were 41-14 and 42-14. I think Saban will try to jump on the Hokies early to send a message and then start chewing up clock as he loves to do.
Alabama - 38
VT - 10
Perfect response. Exactly
I think we'll be seeing this again.
We ain't skeered. Came at us brah
To be honest, I didn't even read it all. I knew it was from the start.
No wonder these Bama folks are a little grumpy. No one welcomed them to the board
Welcome to VTScoop fellows. Glad to have you with us.
There we go, now thats more like it! Glad to be here and discuss a little football rationally with some passionate football fans.
