Alabama is Alabama. They plug guys in every year and don't miss a beat. They will miss Warmack, Fluker, and Jones, but there is a ridiculous pool of talent to choose from to take over those spots. Not to mention they have the best OL in the Country returning at LT.
I really hope we come in with a chip on our shoulder and compete, but I'm not sure VT has the horses this year. I'm not sure any team in the Country has the horses to compete with Alabama. We can only hope that Saban spends this summer focusing on Texas A&M on 9/14 rather than VT on 8/30.
Haha. Hell yeah. Beating Bama by 7 FG's would maybe get our kicker into the Heisman race. I should have actually put some thought behind my math.
22 is a bit high....bama's first game...breaking in some o-line...think bama will be lookin down the road as a revenge game against A&M....think we can cover.....only takes a couple of picks/fumbles and game could actually be interesting.....would be posting the spread so our guys can see it everyday....
Was supposed to say our dline vs their 3 new OL starters
ND had as much right being in that game as my old high school team would have. Underscheduled and so way much overhyped.
They had a ton of folks drafted and do return a bunch. That said, I'll take VT and the points
This is shaping up a lot like our 2003/2004 season. We ended 2003 awfully and opened up 2004 with USC (who went on to win the MNC). A lot of people felt we would get blown out of the water. Going up against Leinart and Bush, VT had no shot. Well, in my opinion, we should have won that game, if not for a bogus PI call, but either way we hung in there and competed right to the final whistle.
Didn't we go to that game together? That place was shaking.. I left so pissed off..

I agree. This early? And considering the "offensive" show we put on last year and a new O + new coaches. I'll take Bama covering the spread as well.
I hope I'm wrong but I'm not that surprised at the line. When you look at our weaknesses (OL, WR, lack of a running game) things don't exactly bode well for us. Bama shuts down the run even against teams with good rushing attacks. I'm sure they'll be able to stack the box and press our WR's and we won't be able to do very much about it.
On offense they have TJ Yeldon, McCarron, and Amari Cooper coming back. Not to mention Henry the freshman RB who's 6'2 245. While I feel better about our D, I still think they have enough playmakers and dominant play on the line to give us problems. I would feel a little better if Exum hadn't gone down, but even still I don't think they'll have too much of an issue establishing the run.
My hope is that we can make the game ugly and hope for a big special teams play and some miscues by some of Bama's new players.
If we win this game, which I do think we can, keep in mind that ESPN will come up with all kinds of excuses for Alabama. Mostly it will be that they were looking ahead. Bama and SEC fans will do the same. We could win the game and see Alabama fall to #3 in the polls and we might sneak in at #25.
We've lost what 2 games in the last 15 years by 21+ points?? @LSU and Acccg vs Clemson.
Theres no way we lose by 22 points
Take the Hokies.
Sure did! Congrats by the way. Glad the ankle is OK!
