Since 1992, VT has never been a 20+ point underdog.
It sucks, but it makes sense. Coming off our worst season in 20 years after which we fired 3 coaches and completely overhauled the offense. I think anyone in our situation playing Alabama would be in the same spot. I expect a game like we had against them a couple years ago. Closer than people thought, but we'll probably lose

Bama has consistently covered their recent non conference games by a mile.
Michigan, ND, Penn State (2010 and 2011), Michigan State, etc.
They had to set a line where they actually get 50% on both sides. Having said that I was expecting 14 to 17.5.
A few others...
Seven college football betting lines were released Tuesday. How big of a favorite over Virginia Tech is Alabama? Who is favored between LSU and TCU? Find out.

I thought it'd be about -14 'Bama or so, but I agree that from just a cursory glance the situation does not favor us at all. Way too many question marks not only for our personnel but the whole program and we're going up against an absolute juggernaut to boot. I think our defense is capable of keeping it within 10-14 points, but beyond that I'm not confident of saying much else. It'll end up being a battle of attrition that 'Bama pulls away from late IMO.
I'm honestly surprised its only 22. I dont think our O puts more than a field goal or two on the board.
I'll take Bama covering the spread
Resolve to perform what you ought; perform without fail what you resolve. You may be whatever you resolve to be - Stonewall Jackson
I'll take VT to cover the spread
That my friends, is easy money
Alabama completely destroyed ND in the championship, and despite having a lot drafted, returns so much talent.
I see Bama winning by 17-20 points. Take VT to cover.
THE ONLY THING I'M ADDICTED TO IS WINNING--CHARLIE SHEEN
Personally, I would take Bama on anything less than -24.
Bama is really, really good and VT certainly has some work to do as do most teams at the beginning of the year.
I think we keep it within 14 points.. because our DLine vs 3 new starters on theirs
I'd agree with that if our D line was playing their D line in the bull in the ring drill. But its their DL (probably full of 5 star recruits) against our work-in-progress OL
We WIN by 1. Last second 44 yard field goal. I will be there watching. 21-20
Good. If I were the players, I would take this as a sign of blatant disrespect. Reminds of the under dog days of the past when VT was still very much on the rise.
I know how good Bama is, but that's not my point. To win games like these you have to get down and dirty and fight to the death. Bushido mentality. I want every one of our players to step out on that field with a mentality like Floyd Mayweather. So confident you're cocky.
Hope your right.
I'll take Oregon -42
Did you hear Hoo got arrested? Thomas Jefferson would be proud!
21 points, including a FG, you say. There are a lot of interesting scenarios to make that scoring prediction happen.
7 FGs and a win would be both great and so frustrating.
Was supposed to say our dline vs their new OL
