Hello there Hokies, this is a Bama fan looking for information on how your roster might look like next year. Can you guys tell me who you are returning and how you see your talent level shaping up for next year? I know its early but I am bored at work and l looking ahead. Will next years team be rebuilding or set to compete for a championship?
Really depends on what Logan Thomas does. I think we will have another good defense, but the team will go as LT goes.

People sleep soundly in their beds at night because rough men stand ready to visit violence on their behalf.
The D should be stacked.. On offense we will be rebuilding.
thanks for the info, also I can't see your reply if its only for insiders just as an fyi orangeandmaroon and hokiepride
If the game is close, i'll be happy. Lets be honest you guys are running full speed.
Did you hear Hoo got arrested? Thomas Jefferson would be proud!
Our RB's Will be stacked. OL doesn't matter because it is always a question mark for us and our D overall should be just as good as this year with a lot of true freshman pushing for PT this year and a recruiting class that features talent that might be the best we have seen yet in Blacksburg. As stated though, if LT leaves it's a whole different team. Leal has the talent but you just don't want his first start to be vs. Bama.
If I had to take a shot at guessing the Offense..
WR's we will be young but very talented.
RB's we will be young but very talented.
OL we will be average as of right now.
QB depends on if LT comes back or not but I have faith in Mark Leal if we give him time.
D Line should be excellent.
LB's should be very good.
Secondary should be excellent if Kyle Fuller does not go pro.
FG we should be good Cody J. will be back
Punter we should be good at we are using a tFr. this year so he will be back.
But like always depends on attrition and guys leaving early for the draft.
You're not missing anything; my posts are generally worthless.
If nobody on the defense leaves early (DE Gayle and CB Fuller being the best candidates), our defense will remain almost entirely in tact next season. The defense this year will likely be top 5-10 and return 8-9 starters plus much of the two deep without early departures.
On offense, we will have some questions. If Logan leaves early, Leal will be the QB. He has shown a lot of improvement since arriving on campus a few years ago and has a strong grasp of the playbook. Running backs are all freshmen this year so we should be fine there. Wide receivers will be talented but could be inexperienced. OL depth will likely be a cause for concern.

as for Bama we don't have very many seniors leaving but will be breaking in an almost entirely new offensive line and will probably be losing some Juniors like Fluker and Milliner to the NFL (possibly our QB AJ McCarron). It should be an enjoyable game and I look forward to seeing you guys again.
O&M I just scanned over your post and I though that you said your posts are genital warts and I was about to piss my pants laughing.
Hopefully we can pull of the W this time
QB is the biggest question mark. Either you get a 5th year senion in Logan Thomas (who either had a sub-par year or wanted to return for 5th year) or Mark Leal a R-Jr., (likely first time starter)
RBs should be solid
OL---it's VT, who knows, i would guess subpar
TE---should be solid
WR---lose 4 seniors and the ones who should be our leading WRs...Davis, Roberts, Coles, Fuller...man writing that is scary. (for that sake alone i hope we get our youngs guys as many snaps as possible this year, especially if DR and MD don't pick up the pace)
So on the whole I would expect your D to hammer us good..,
Defense we should be stout, could potentially lose a few guys to draft (Gayle, Fuller) and lose a few to graduation. I think the biggest difference will be our DL compared to last time we played. I think we were pretty solid that year, but nowhere close to the quality depth.
I will have a little bit of hope if LT returns and likely no hope if he doesn't. This is not a knock on Leal, but i think the experience and moxie of a senior, LT will be a must if we hope to have any shot.
I am assuming Bama will look like an NFL sized/speed team again, and the place will be packed with your fans.....VT fans are gun shy on big games in neutral locations with good reason.
We owe Coach Saban another loss, to go along with the one we gave him when he was at LSU
You guys will have a very difficult time scoring on us if we don't have a turnover inside our own 20. The same could hold true for us against your D. Sometimes people say a game will be a defensive struggle and score winds up 38-31. This won't be one of those games.
We will likely have between eight and ten starters returning on defense along with nearly all of our depth (DT Antoine Hopkins is the only senior of the bunch in the two-deep). The defense should be the best in school history, IMO.
On offense, if LT comes back we can make a MNC run. I formerly was hesitent about this, however, DJ Coles will be back and will give us an experience upperclassman with size at the WR position. Him being out this year will also lead to the younger players getting experience while he recovers from injury.
OL is the big question mark and possibly the only one IMO.
Worst case we will still be more competitive than Michigan.
