  • Just further proof VT needs to look out for themselves.

Did you hear Hoo got arrested? Thomas Jefferson would be proud!

  • If it is ever proven we had an SEC offer, and slow played it, this will go down as the most epic fail ever...

  • Anybody else think that the B1G could give a rats arse about adding ACC teams but is just trying to do so to force ND's hand?

Why? If we leave now we owe $50 mil. If we wait till MD settles we could owe as little as $10-20. I don't know about you but saving $30 mil sounds good to me.

I think they want ACC teams for TV Network revenues, but they also get the bonus of forcing ND's hand...but they need to be careful they don't force ND to the ACC.

  • I think that the best way for Virginia Tech to "look" out for itself is to address the AD position sooner rather than later....we need to be proactive with regard to a number of issues...our current AD has done many good things for VT....IMO he would best serve this institution by passing the power to a younger, fresher and more involved mind.....

It's laughable that UNC would even consider switching conferences and give up the security blanket Swofford provides them. Until the Big Ten announces Swofford as their new commissioner, there is no chance UNC is going.

Par for the course. UNC now facing accredidation issues, with over 200 fraudulent classes uncovered. And that means absolutely nothing to the Big Ten. Amazing.

I agree, and to increase the focus on men's basketball, all aspects including coaching, recruiting, fan support, media coverage, and program marketing.

Meh, Delaney is a UNC alum also. They'll be just as protected in B1G as they were in ACC.

The only way this works politically is for NCState to have a safe landing....SEC
    UNC isn't going anywhere without a partner....UVA
UVA can't go anywhere without VT having a safe landing...SEC

The only want this plays out is for State and VT to the SEC and UVA and UNC to the B1G....I see no other way this plays out. UVA and VT are a package to either the ACC or the B1G/SEC, both are staying or both are leaving, that's why VT didn't blaze last time. Same with UNC/State

  • Thanks for the info, JC.

I know I'm in the minority on this, but I'm growing tired of all this conference expansion stuff from the past few years. I'm a realist and certainly want to see VT land in the best possible position, but to me conference expansion represents the worst of college athletics today: no respect for tradition, all about the bottom line.

Yeah I agree. I'm sick of hearing about expansion as well.

Not having Colorado-Nebraska and Texas-Texas A&M the Friday after thanksgiving was an absolute travesty.

I don't think you are in the minority at all. I'm tired of it in that I just want the moves to be made and the dust to settle, but I was VT to be in another conference. Something to add some excitement. My dream conference is

    Virginia Tech
    UVA
    Penn St
    North Carolina
    Tennessee
    Duke
    Georgia
    Florida
    Clemson
    Florida State
    Kentucky
    South Carolina

It would be a hell of a football and basketball conference, and a huge moneymaker. Granted this will never ever happen, but the current ACC is boring. The best alternative is the SEC.

Delany worked for the enforcement department of the NCAA for five years. Could be he knows somthing we don't. UNC was unscathed by the NCAA as more and more bad news kept riseing . I don't think the AAU , the NCAA, or the State of NC will bring anyrthing to bear against them.

The moment that happens, I'll know the Big Ten is doomed (Swofford that is).
