Either Rangers, Flyers or Devils...All toughies. But they just beat the defending champs, 3 on their ice, so confidence is riding high regardless of the opponent

That would be 95% of all hockey fans and probably more than half of all Caps fans, including me. I'm glad to be wrong. Look at these predictions....

Oh I agree 100%. But there was one specific flyers fan on here that was yapping away about it.

Someone explain this to me...
Going into OT the commentators mentioned how Ovi should be good to go in OT because he hadnt played much in regulation. Isnt he one of the best players in the world? Why did he not play much in game 7 of the playoffs?

I never thought I'd see the day, but when I watch the Caps now, I cringe when Ovi is on the ice. I know that the other team is about to have what looks like a 5 on 4 power play. He simply won't play defense. Doesn't care to. It's criminal that he's the captain of this team.
He's a very skilled offensive player (heck, this was one of his worst years of his career and he still put up something like 40 goals), but even those skills have diminished.
In the playoffs, teams play tough defense. Wide open hockey, that Ovechkin excels at, doesn't really exist. So, Dale H has been playing him when they really need a goal (the other day down 1 vs Boston in the 3rd), and sitting him when they have a lead.
The Caps are actually in a very weird spot right now. Their highest paid forward and highest paid defensemen (Green) have to play LESS in cruch time because of their defensive deficiencies. Very odd.

I think this whole thing is overblown with Ovi. He is a great hitter and forechecker. One of the things I love about the guy is the way he hits. What other goal scorers in history have done that? Once he gets hot in the playoffs - and he will (always does) - all this stuff goes away.
