I have been up here training for my new job for 3 1/2 weeks and I am about to lose my mind. I need to get back around hokienation ASAP. Went and played basketball on UVA's campus a couple days ago. And it's not just the football team that is soft, it is everyone around here.
Can't wait to get back to where real football takes place, and actually get to contribute to the conversation a little more. Big shout out to all of you for keeping me sane with the info these past couple weeks!!

Well, yes, every city has its blemishes, but 9/10 tourists/residents have no reason to go out that way. It's sort of off of the beaten path, in the sense that you won't just stumble upon it. It is not even remotely close to being one of Charlottesville's primary areas, as many folks I know who have lived here for years don't even know where it is. There are plans to build a Wegman's grocery store, along with another big box store, complete with green spaces which should help revitalize that area. But again, hardly anyone goes out that way on a regular basis. My apologies if you've been stuck out that way for an extended period of time. At the same time though, on 5th street extended you're a 5 minute drive from one of the nation's best pedestrian malls, countless great restaurants, a state of the art gym, and several legit music venues.
For the record, 5th street ext. isn't even that notoriously crappy. Our worst areas are Dice Street, Prospect Ave, and the neighborhoods immediately to the north of Main Street. Avoid those.
I'm moving to Roanoke in the near future, so I'll get a taste of what you're probably feeling, VTCrazy. I look at it as a missionary trip. It's my responsibility to convert those who have lost their way to the good ways of the orange and blue.
@Smitty, don't you live in West Va? Wrong thread for you to drop that line
Forgive me in advance if I've mistaken you for someone else.
