What about Co-OC at Ole Miss Dan Werner. He's coached at JMU for 4 years, at Miami when they won their title, and he's coached at Murray State for one season. He's not a young guy like some would like but he certainly seems to have some ties to the area. Ole Miss's other Co-OC is Matt Luke, who spent four seasons at Duke. He seems less likely since he's an Ole Miss grad.

Joker would seem reasonable, given the situation at his alma mater didn't work out and he could potentially find some long term stability at VT. We probably wouldn't have to much fear of him leaving in 2 years. I know nothing about his resume
